Security incident in the learning platform Canvas

Sunet (Swedish University Computer Network), which provides the learning platform Canvas, is currently investigating a cybersecurity incident.

There are indications that certain user information may have been exposed, such as names, email addresses, student IDs, and messages.

The full extent of the incident is still unclear. The Swedish Defence University has therefore increased the monitoring of Canvas.

“We currently have no confirmed information about the extent of the incident, but we are handling it in accordance with the precautionary principle as if we have been affected. This includes, among other things, conducting a technical and information security analysis and taking measures to protect personal data. The incident has also been reported to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection", says Marith Wiedersheim-Paul, Head of IT at the Swedish Defence University.
