Other regulations

The Internship course is an elective course within the Master Programme in Politics and War.

Students are responsible for securing their own work internship position. The place of internship is approved and recognized in advance via the signing of the Internship Agreement by the mentor at the place of internship and by the head of the internship course. The place of internship shall mentor the student during their work internship and be the point of contact for the student and for SEDU, as indicated in the agreement.

SEDU encourages students to establish contacts with external organisations and actors relevant to the subject of War Studies, in Sweden as well as internationally. Undergoing internship in an organisation and writing an essay in a novel context is viewed, in conjunction with the other courses and opportunities offered, as a beneficial experience for the academic and professional development of students at SEDU. Additional costs necessitated or incurred as a result of work internship in a location other than Stockholm are the responsibility of the student.

The Swedish Defence University reserves the right to not approve proposed places of work internship if the organisation or mentor is deemed inappropriate. The activities of the place of internship may not violate the principles and legislation for public authorities in Sweden. As it is the right of SEDU to assess the appropriate nature of the place of internship, it is also possible that a proposed place of internship may be rejected as SEDU may lack the resources necessary to ascertain whether it is appropriate.

  • Course evaluation takes place following conclusion of the course and is taken into account when assessing possible amendments to the syllabus.
  • If a student has a decision from the Swedish Defense University on special educational support due to a disability, the examiner may decide on alternative forms of examination for the student.
