My loans

Here you will find information about your loans, loan account and the library's loan terms.

Through the My Loans service, you can reserve books yourself, renew loans and see when it is time to return borrowed books.

Borrow from the library

All libraries have self-service machines. You borrow yourself with your personal identity number or FHS account name and your pin code.

The loan period for general literature is 28 days.

For the course literature that is taught on the "Civil" programs/courses, 10-day loans apply.

In My loans you can extend your loans a maximum of 6 times , provided that the book is not reserved by anyone else.

Renew books

You can primarily renew your book via the My Loans service. You can also turn to our information service by, for example, emailing. If it is not possible to renew a book, it may be because:

  • The book is reserved
  • The maximum limit for renewals has been reached
  • that your loan account needs to be extended

In My loans you can make changes to your loan account, reserve books, renew loans and see the book's return date.

Student or staff

If you are a student or staff at the Swedish Defence University, you use your SEDU account and password to log in to My loans.

Staff and students (who are studying freestanding courses at SEDU), must apply for a loan account online. Then contact the library to activate your library account. Bring valid identification.

Public

The public can apply for a loan account online. Then visit the library to activate your library account. Bring valid identification.

The public log in to My loans with their personal identity number or e-mail address and password.

Forgot your PIN?

If you need to get a new PIN code, log in to My Loans. click on the heading Personal data and PIN code. Then select a new code and enter it on the page that opens. Don't forget to save.

If you are not a student or employee at the Swedish Defence University and have forgotten your password, you can receive a link via email to recover your account. Go to My loans.

  1. Select Non-student/Employee at the Swedish Defence University
  2. Then select "Forgot your password? Click here".
  3. Fill in your personal identity number or email address in the form

If you are a student at the Swedish Defence University, you can borrow books from our library with your SEDU account. Students and staff can make changes to the SEDU account and change their password via the student portal.

Books available at the main library cannot be reserved.

If the book is on loan, you can reserve it. You can also reserve books that are placed in the stacks or at Karlberg or the Armed Forces headquarters.

How do I reserve a book?

  1. Look up the book in Primo.
  2. Click on Reserve and fill out the form that appears. You will be contacted by email when the book is available for collection. Note that you must choose to pick up the book at a library that you have permission to visit.
  3. Reserved books can be picked up from the reservation shelf in the library. You must then borrow the book from the loan machine.

Return books at the Main Library

At the entrance of the main library there is a return machine. There you can return books while the Swedish Defence University is open, 08:00-17:00. If you have an access card to the Swedish Defence University, you have access to 22.00.

OP students can return course literature at the main library?

Drop-off can also be done (weekdays 08:00-17:00) at the Swedish Defence University's entrance for those who do not have an access card. There is a return box right outside the entrance gates.

Return at Karlberg

At the Karlberg branch, the books are returned to the library using the self-service machine. This only applies to students and staff with access cards at Karlberg.
