Adan Anwar is a doctoral student at the Swedish Defence University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology, focusing on the interplay between cybersecurity, disinformation, defence capability, and diplomacy. He has a multidisciplinary background and experience from both the private and public sectors in strategic analysis, cybersecurity, and technology-driven transformation.
His research examines how state and non-state actors leverage the information environment to influence decision-making, and how emerging technologies – including AI and the digitalisation of the security sector – shape diplomacy, crisis management, and modern defence capabilities.
He has a particular interest in the nexus between security, democracy, and the MENA region. A core ambition of his work is to support Swedish and international policy development by bridging academic research with practical applications that enhance resilience to hybrid threats and promote international stability.
